Biography
My work both on canvas and in clay is inspired by a life-long love of animals. From my early days growing up on our family farm overlooking the River Foyle in St Johnston, Co Donegal I have been fascinated by animals and their individual characters. It is that uniqueness and distinct personality which inspires me every day when I pick up a paint brush or open a bag of clay. I love bringing them to life, be it through a kind eye, an elegant pose or a cheeky turn of a snout. Just like the animals each piece of sculpture in ceramic or bronze is a one off.
Horses are my great passion and I like to think the bond and close affinity I have for them is reflected in my paintings and sculpture. In a previous life I was jockey and competed all over Ireland. My horse sculptures can now be found in the homes of many of Irelands top trainers, jockeys and owners through the various commissions I received for racing awards down through the years.I have also been commissioned to paint many of our top Irish racehorses.
Visitors to my Blue Horse Gallery on our farm in St Johnston are always welcome.
